Kempsford Manor

Elegant 17-18th century Cotswold manor house set in beautiful, peaceful gardens.

Events. With spacious reception rooms and fine cuisine we are well suited for small conferences, meetings and entertaining. Picturesque setting for celebrations. Marquee available for larger events. The Manor and the gardens offer an ideal retreat for those wishing to relax or convalesce. For organized retreat weekends or days, when talks and guidance will be available, please ring 01285 810131. A number of courses take place at the Manor from time to time: Butler's School, Painting and Drawing, Music Workshop, Etiquette and Speech.

Gardens. The gardens are open from February (with a splendid display of snowdrops along the former canal side walk, teas by a roaring fire) until October. We open for the National Gardens' Scheme but groups are welcome at any time by appointment. For groups, we offer lunch, a talk on the history of the village (very important in medieval times) and the history of the Manor. Often our vicar escorts our visiting groups around Kempsford Church which is very beautiful. Nearby, 3 miles from Kempsford is Fairford Church, famous for its complete set of 15th Century staines glass.
National Gardens' Scheme Openings 2008: February 24, March 2, 9, 16, April 13, 27, May 25, 26, August 10, 17, 24, 25, September 14
On some of these occasions there will be one or two musicians playing jazz or classical music. Music can also be arranged for visiting groups.

Location. Ideally situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, Swindon 12 miles, Cirencester 10 miles. (Paddington to Swindon 50 minutes.) Easy access to M4 and M5, as well as to Cotswold tourist sites such as Burford, Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-water, Cirencester. Oxford is 24 miles. Many famous gardens (Hidcote, Sezincote, Kiftsgate, Barnsley House) are within easy reach. The Thames Path is only 2km away.  Click here for a map (the manor is the complex of buildings in the centre of the picture).

The Manor has its own cricket field. During the cricket season you can watch a game from your bedroom or from the garden! Sports facilities in the vicinity are: horse-riding, tennis, swimming, water sports (at the Cotswold Water Parks) and joining organised walks.
